Most consumer products build their initial audience on the big social platforms. Some Substack publications have found a way to consistently share their work and major milestones to social, opening up a valuable growth channel.
I think it's genius how Alex posts everything on Linkedin AND Twitter (with the needed adjustments). You can never know know which platforms are going to take off and grow faster.
Yes, and a key part of the success for Alex (and others w/ a more systematic approach to sharing) is that posting to each additional platform doesn’t take too much extra effort.
Often, sharing can take up too much time, taking precious mindshare away from publishing high quality stuff. The folks that share well have found a way to append posting to social as part of publishing their newsletter posts without too much extra effort, time, or mindshare.
For me, I'm on Facebook, the site formerly known as Twitter (your joke was better), and Insta, but on FB I have mostly colleagues, friends, and family, so my relationship with them is "real" and I always felt very "transactional" asking people to like or share posts (I still do). Whereas posting "my podcast got 10,000 downloads" (buzzsprout used to send me awesome milestone gifs to post before I moved to substack (hint hint)), feels more "par for the course" for how people I know interact on Facebook.
Thank you for highlighting our journey! Grateful for the support and community.
Thank *you* Alex, appreciate you letting us spotlight your team’s approach! 🙏

Thanks for dropping by with a comment, Tom! :)
great advice, especially the idea of sharing milestones since that feels less transactional for me!
Thanks Mike!
I’d love to hear more about what types of sharing feel more transactional?
